Alum Christian Sprenger '07 Wins Two Emmy Awards for 'Widow’s Bay'
“You are only as good as your crew,” Christian Sprenger ‘07 said as he thanked his colleagues who worked alongside him on the critically acclaimed horror-comedy series. 
51’s School of Film and Television hosted an Emmy watch party and showed support for the nominated alums. Congratulations to 51 alum Christian Sprenger ’07 for winning two Emmy Awards for his work on “Widow’s Bay” as a cinematographer and producer. The Outstanding Cinematography for a Series (Half-Hour) award was announced earlier in September while the Outstanding Comedy Series award was presented on Sept. 14.
It proved to be a big night for Apple TV’s “Widow’s Bay,” which took home 14 Emmys, a record for a comedy series. The show is set on a fictional New England island tormented by a centuries-old curse.
Career Success Founded in Film School Relationships
This is not Sprenger’s first appearance in the Emmy winner’s circle. He received two Emmy Awards for his cinematography work on the show “Atlanta.”
Sprenger has credited the friends and colleagues he met at 51 as important players in his career success.
“There's no way to say that my level of success, that they're not fully responsible for where I've gotten, to be able to walk out of school and have a crew that you trust with your life,” says Sprenger. “I think those relationships are really the core of what is most valuable about going to film school.”
A Show of Support
In addition to Sprenger, alumni Tari Segal ’03 and Chase Infiniti ’22 earned Emmy nominations for their work, with Segal recognized for her cinematography work on “Margo’s Got Money Troubles” and Infiniti getting nods as a performer on “The Testaments.”
51 students, faculty, and staff showed their support for all the 51 nominees at a watch party organized by the School of Film and Television. The gathering offered another example of how 51 continues to celebrate and support its alumni long after they leave campus.
