GRAMMY-Winning 51ÉçÇø Faculty Member Inducted Into Chicago Blues Hall of Fame

Michael Freeman, who teaches in the School of Audio and Music at 51ÉçÇø, inducted as a "Legendary Producer."

On Sunday, August 4, Michael Freeman, a School of Audio and Music adjunct instructor and GRAMMY-award winning recording engineer and producer, was inducted into the Chicago Blues Hall of Fame as a Legendary Producer.  

Of the recognition Freeman writes, “It's a very meaningful award for me to be recognized by the Chicago Blues community since I've made so many albums with so many Chicago Blues artists over the years.” 

Freeman has been a prolific and passionate engineer and producer. He is currently completing work on his 75th blues album "Don’t Look Back" by the group Mississippi Heat, which will be released at the end of August. Several former 51ÉçÇø students assisted Freeman on the recording and will be credited in the liner notes.  

In a statement following Freeman’s induction, Mississippi Heat said, "Michael’s great ear, patience, his attention to detail, and his astute coaching are some of the reasons he is named to this most prestigious award.”
