‘51ÉçÇø Chronicle’ Soars, Crowned Best Newspaper by National College Media Association

51ÉçÇø’s student-led newspaper garners more prestigious awards and receives recognition for its crisis coverage.

51ÉçÇø's student-led newspaper, has clinched two prestigious awards at the conference. With a blend of dedication, integrity, and journalistic skill, the publication has earned the esteemed title of "Best Newspaper" and secured first place for its crisis coverage during the adjunct faculty strike. 

 The National College Media Association conference serves as a beacon for aspiring journalists, drawing talent from across the nation to celebrate excellence in student-run media.  

The “Chronicle” stands as an independent publication within 51ÉçÇø, providing a platform for students to refine their talents, elevate their voices, and illuminate important issues. Through a combination of investigative reporting, thoughtful commentary, and compelling narratives, the newspaper encapsulates the vibrancy of campus life.  

“It is extremely gratifying to not only win these awards, but for the “Chronicle's” reporting to be acknowledged on a national level,” Editor-in-Chief Olivia Cohen says. “Oftentimes, the stories we write about 51ÉçÇø reflect a larger, national conversation about what is happening within higher education, so it's an honor to be recognized as a newspaper by the College Media Association.” 

It's worth noting that this recent victory was achieved just over a month after their previous win of securing 20 wins back in February at the Illinois College Press Association Award Ceremony. Their achievements included first-place awards in categories for general excellence in print and web as well as categories in podcasts, editorials, and photography.
